How Long Does It Take to Hear Back After a Factory AI Interview?

No candidate has reported an exact Factory AI timeline in public, so plan on the pattern for a small AI startup. That pattern is one to two weeks for a reply after applying. Then about one week after a technical phone interview, and two to five business days after the last round.

End to end, two to four weeks is typical. These numbers are typical for companies of this size, not confirmed for Factory.

One useful signal is real: Factory's own recruiting posts name reducing time-to-hire as a goal. Slow replies are more likely a scheduling gap than a decision.

Timeline by Stage

StageTypical waitWhat is happening
Application1 to 2 weeks, often silence if the answer is noA small recruiting team reviews applications in batches
Recruiter call2 to 5 business daysThe recruiter checks with the hiring manager and books the screen
Technical phone interviewAbout 1 weekThe interviewer writes feedback and the team decides on an onsite
Onsite rounds2 to 5 business daysInterviewers compare notes and the founders or leads sign off
OfferSame week as the decisionDetails, start date, and references

The waits are typical for companies of this size, not confirmed for Factory. Ask the recruiter for their expected dates at every step. A small company will usually tell you.

Does Factory AI Send Rejection Emails?

Candidates have not reported Factory's rejection practice in public. Companies of this size usually send a short email after a screen or an onsite. Silence after an application with no interview is common everywhere.

Detailed feedback after a rejection is rare at most companies. If you want feedback, ask for one specific thing, such as which round was weakest. A narrow question gets an answer more often than a general one.

How to Follow Up

Send one follow-up if the promised date passes with no word. Wait at least five business days after the last interview, or two business days past any date the recruiter gave you. Send it to the recruiter, not the interviewers.

"Hi [Name], thank you again for the conversations last week. I enjoyed the design discussion about verifying agent changes. I wanted to check whether there is an update on the timeline, and whether you need anything else from me. I remain very interested in the role."

One message is enough. A second one, a week later, is the limit. More than that looks like pressure.

Can You Reapply, and How Soon?

Factory has not published a reapply rule, and candidates have not reported one. Companies of this size typically ask for six to twelve months before a second attempt at the same role. That is typical, not confirmed.

Two exceptions are common. A rejection at the recruiter or screen stage often allows an earlier retry. A different role, such as a deployed engineer instead of a platform engineer, is often treated as a new application.

Ask the recruiter directly in the rejection reply. Then spend the gap building something the team would want to see, such as an agent project with real users.

What to Wear

Most early rounds are on video. Wear a plain, neat top in one color, and check your camera height, your light, and your background before the call. Close every other application, because the coding rounds share your screen.

Factory works from its San Francisco office five days a week, so a final visit in person is likely. Software teams there dress casually, so a clean shirt or sweater with jeans or plain trousers is right, and a suit is not. Wear what you would wear on a normal good day at that office.
