How to Follow Up

This loop runs quickly, so wait less than you would elsewhere. Send one short email three to five business days after a round.

Hi [name], thank you for the time on Thursday. I enjoyed the retrieval design question and the discussion about latency and cost. Could you tell me the status of my application and the next step? I am glad to wait if the team needs more time.

Send it once. If nothing comes back in another week, send one more. After that, treat the role as closed.

Can You Reapply, and How Soon?

Perplexity does not publish a reapply rule. Candidates do not report a fixed waiting period either.

About six months is the usual advice. Apply sooner if a new team posts a role closer to your work.

Two things strengthen a second attempt. Use the product seriously for a few weeks and form real opinions about it. Then build something small with a retrieval pipeline and show it.

What to Wear

Interviews are on video for most candidates. The HR screen, the technical screen, and the onsite rounds are remote calls.

A plain shirt in one solid color is enough. Skip thin stripes and shiny fabric, which webcams handle poorly. Test your camera, microphone, and lighting first.

Some candidates are invited to the office instead. Dress the same way, add clean shoes, and arrive about ten minutes early. A suit is not expected.
