How Long Does It Take to Hear Back After a Toast Interview?

Most Toast candidates report about three to four weeks from first contact to a decision. Toast does not publish its timing, and per stage reports are few.

After the onsite, the five interviewers pool their feedback. Then the recruiter calls with the outcome.

Timeline by Stage

Toast publishes no timing of its own. The table below is part candidate report, part the pattern that is typical for companies of this size, not confirmed.

The coding phone round runs about 45 minutes in a shared editor. The onsite holds two coding rounds, one system design round, one behavioral round, and one hiring manager conversation.

The size of that onsite explains most of the wait. Five interviews are harder to book than three.

One thing shortens the wait. Tell your recruiter early if you have another offer with a deadline. Recruiters can often compress a schedule when they know the date.

Does Toast Send Rejection Emails?

Toast does not say publicly what it sends after a rejection, and candidate reports on it are few. So treat the pattern below as likely, not as a rule.

Candidates do report one recruiter who stays with them through all five onsite interviews. That person tells you the result, good or bad.

An application with no interview often gets no reply at all. Treat a silent application as closed after about three weeks.

Specific feedback is rare. Ask once, politely, and expect a general answer. A recruiter who ran a five interview loop has notes, but sharing them is usually not allowed.

How to Follow Up

Wait five business days after the coding round. Wait seven after the onsite. Send one short email to the recruiter.

Hi [name], thank you for the time last week. I enjoyed the design round and the questions about offline ordering. Could you tell me where my application stands after the five onsite interviews? I am glad to wait if scheduling takes longer.

Send it once, then wait a week before a second note. Two polite notes are enough. Keep interviewing elsewhere while you wait.

Can You Reapply, and How Soon?

Toast publishes no waiting period after a rejection, and candidates report none. About six months is the usual advice for a company this size.

A second attempt works better when something real has changed. Toast builds the point of sale platform many restaurants run on. A point of sale system takes orders and payments at the counter and the table.

So learn the domain before you apply again. Learn five payment words: tokenization, settlement, chargeback, authorization, and refund. Most candidates arrive without them.

What to Wear

The rounds are virtual for most candidates. Candidates describe a virtual onsite, with a virtual whiteboard in the design round.

Business casual works for every round. A plain shirt in one solid color is the safest choice on camera.

Test your camera and microphone the day before. Keep the background plain and the light in front of you.

If a round happens in an office, the same clothes work. Clean casual clothes are normal there, and no suit is expected.
