What Is the Accenture Interview Process Like? (Round by Round)
Candidates in India report four stages at Accenture. The first is an online cognitive and technical assessment made of multiple choice questions, the second is a coding round with two programming problems, and the third is a communication assessment that grades spoken English.
The fourth stage is a virtual interview that mixes technical questions with HR questions. Many reports describe the online stages as one long sitting rather than four separate days. The order differs between drives, so treat the invitation email for your own drive as the authority.
Quick Overview
| Stage | Format | What is evaluated |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Cognitive and technical assessment | Online, multiple choice, proctored | Reasoning, English, pseudocode, computer science basics |
| 2. Coding round | Online, two problems, about 45 minutes | Working code in C, C++, Java, Python, or .NET |
| 3. Communication assessment | Online, spoken English, about 30 minutes | Fluency, pronunciation, listening |
| 4. Interview | Video call, often one combined session | Projects, fundamentals, motivation, fit |
Stage 1: Cognitive and Technical Assessment
This stage is a set of multiple choice questions with no negative marking reported. The cognitive part covers verbal ability, critical reasoning, and abstract reasoning, while the technical part covers pseudocode, networking basics, database questions, and object oriented concepts. Some reports also mention questions on cloud basics and on common office software.
Reported question counts and timings differ widely between drives. The full section list is in the Accenture assessment test pattern.
Stage 2: Coding Round
Candidates consistently report two problems in about 45 minutes. Reported languages are C, C++, Java, Python, and .NET. The reported problems are basic logic on arrays, strings, and numbers.
Examples candidates describe include checking whether a number is prime, and building a new string from the first character, the length, and the last character. Candidates advise solving one problem completely rather than leaving both partly done.
Stage 3: Communication Assessment
Accenture grades spoken English in this stage, and you answer through a microphone. Reported tasks include reading sentences aloud, repeating sentences after audio, putting jumbled sentences in order, and retelling a short story. Several candidates describe the grading as done by software rather than by a person. Reports disagree on whether this stage removes candidates, so prepare for it as seriously as the others.
Stage 4: Interview
The interview is usually a video call, and candidates report a single session that starts technical and ends with HR questions, sometimes with two panelists. Reported technical topics are data structures, database queries, operating system basics, object oriented programming, and the projects on your resume.
Reported HR topics are your introduction, your interests, relocation, and why you chose Accenture. That last question has its own page: how to answer why Accenture.
How the Campus and Off-Campus Paths Differ
On-campus candidates receive the assessment link through their college placement cell, while off-campus candidates apply through the Accenture careers site and receive the link by email. The stages reported are the same in both paths.
Accenture's own careers information says only some roles include an online activity for skills, and experienced candidates therefore often report a recruiter conversation, a technical interview, and an HR conversation instead of the fresher assessment set.
Timeline and Decision
Candidates report that the online stages are often finished within one week of the invitation. Waits after that are less predictable: some campus candidates report results within days, and others report a month or longer before any update.
Accenture's careers information states that turnaround time depends on the role and the business area. The reported waits at each stage are collected in how long it takes to hear back.
Questions to Ask Them
The interview usually ends with time for your questions, so ask which technology areas the open role covers, since Accenture staffs many different client projects. Ask how new joiners are trained before being placed on a project.
Ask how long a typical project assignment runs, and how people move between projects. A specific question shows the interviewer that you read about the company before the call.
How to Prepare
- Practice basic coding under time pressure. Grokking the Coding Interview teaches the array and string patterns the coding round uses.
- Read the test pattern first. The Accenture assessment test pattern lists each section and what it tests.
- Prepare one project in depth. Interviewers ask what you built, what failed, and what you decided yourself.
- Rehearse spoken English aloud. Record yourself reading a passage and retelling a short story, then listen for pace and clarity.
- Understand the assessment format. What is an online technical assessment explains how these proctored tests are scored.
