Questions for product managers

Three questions a product manager should expect, in the same format as the earlier chapters.

Question 1: Tell me about a time you had to influence a team you had no authority over.

Intention of the question: Product managers deliver through people who do not report to them. The interviewer wants to see how you moved work you could not assign.

Pitfalls to avoid: Avoid a story where you escalated and somebody senior made them do it. Do not describe influence as charm or relationship building. Say what evidence or what trade you brought.
