Using Postman for API Testing
A browser address bar can send only one kind of request, a GET. Typing http://localhost:3000/tasks shows the task list, but there is no place in the address bar to choose POST, to add a JSON body, or to see the status code and headers of the reply. To try the other five routes of the task API, you need a tool that builds any HTTP request and shows the complete response.
Postman is one such tool. It is a desktop application in which you choose a method, type a URL, add headers and a body, and press Send; the response then appears with its status, headers and body
