HTML Backgrounds

Chrome still paints a background image for <body background="paper.jpg">, although HTML 4.0 already marked the attribute as deprecated in 1997. The standard lists this attribute as obsolete, which means authors must not use it, but browsers keep supporting it so that very old pages still look the way they did. A page background today is set with CSS, the separate language that controls how pages look.
