HTML Headings

Six elements, <h1> to <h6>, mark the headings of a page. The number in the name is the heading level. An <h1> is the title of the whole page, an <h2> starts one of its main sections, an <h3> starts a part inside an <h2> section, and so on down to <h6>.

The levels describe how the content is organized, much like the numbered headings in a printed manual. This chapter builds a small recipe page for pancakes, and the headings come first because they give the page its shape.
