1. The Problem at the Entry Point

Your clients should know one address, not your architecture.

Start with a system that has no entry point. Clients call the services directly. Three problems grow as the system grows.

  1. Clients must know the topology. Topology means which services exist and where each one lives. The mobile app hardcodes the addresses of Catalog, Checkout, and Orders. Now every service split or rename becomes an app release, and app releases go through an app store.
