Introduction: Scoping and Requirements

A mobile design question may begin with a product name, such as “Design a photo-sharing app.” That name leaves many decisions open. Are you designing a feed, photo uploads, or private messages? Does the server already exist? What should work without a connection?

Scoping means agreeing on what you will design and what you will leave out. Requirements describe the behavior and conditions the design must support.

This chapter helps you reach that agreement before choosing components or tools.
