Know the Vocabulary

This lesson uses the terms below repeatedly. Read them once now and return here when a later section needs one.

  • Coupling: The degree to which a change in one part of a system forces a change in another part.
  • Service contract: The formal description of what a service offers: its operations, inputs, outputs, errors and usage policies.
  • Service consumer: Any application or service that calls another service through its contract. The service that implements the contract is the service provider.
