Know the Vocabulary

This lesson uses the terms below many times. Read them once now, and come back here when a later section needs one.

• Producer: A thread that creates work and adds it to a queue, such as a checkout thread in this lesson.
• Consumer: A thread that takes work out of a queue and does it, such as an order worker in this lesson.
• Queue: A list of waiting items where the first item added is the first item taken out. This rule is called first in, first out.
