Capturing User Input with TextInput

A text field on a phone screen must open the keyboard when tapped, show what the user types, and let the user edit it. React Native provides all of this in one built-in component, TextInput, which works like an input box on a website. You use it for names, passwords, email addresses, search queries, and longer messages.

This chapter builds one sign-up form, step by step. This lesson creates its fields and reads what the user types. The next lessons control those fields, check their contents, and then use libraries for the checking.
