Understanding Events in React Native

A tap on a button, a keystroke in a text field, and a drag down a list have one thing in common: the user did something, and the app needs to find out. React Native reports each of these actions as an event, which is an object that describes what just happened.

Events are what make a screen respond. Without them, a button would do nothing when tapped, and the user could not tell whether the app had noticed. This chapter follows one small screen, a grocery list, from its first button to a full set of responses.
