6.9 Failure Scenarios by Pattern

A cache node restarts during peak traffic, and within seconds the database behind it receives ten times its normal query rate. The cache held no data that mattered, yet its failure can still make the whole system unavailable. Every way of using Redis has its own failure behavior of this kind, because each pattern uses Redis differently: as disposable speed, as the only copy of some state, as a coordination point, or as a buffer for work.
