Types of caching?

Why are DNS Caching and CDN Caching considered as "types" of caching? Aren't they examples of caching? Is there something unique about these implementations that makes them different from other types of caching?

Is the following a fair way to represent this list:

Types of caching based on storage:
- In-memory cache
- Disk based cache

Types of caching based on location:
- Client side cache
- Server side cache
- Database cache

Examples of caching:
- DNS caching
- CDN caching

I think it is a way to explicitly define a cache between the Client (e.g. browser) and the Server (e.g. web server), even though the DNS and CDN providers are servers in the middle of network communication.

It is important to consider the application cache and all data...
