Ingestion Decides What Retrieval Can Find

RAG quality depends on more than the model. Document preparation can introduce errors before retrieval starts.

It is ingestion, the pipeline that loads documents into the system in the first place.

Before any retrieval happens, this pipeline turns wikis, PDFs, tickets, and chat threads into chunks. Those chunks have to be clean, well-scoped, and rich with metadata.

Parsing errors, missing metadata, and stale versions can lead to unsupported or incorrect answers.
