This course made one argument, from its first lesson to its last.

AI system design interviews are system design interviews.

The models are new. The constraints are new: tokens, GPUs, silent failures.

But the discipline that gets graded is the one that has always been graded. Requirements with numbers. Architecture with budgets. Failure handling before it is asked for. A system that can tell whether it is working.

An answer is incomplete if it discusses models but omits requirements, evaluation, cost, or failure handling.
