Improving TypeScript Performance in Large Applications

On a generated test project of 2,000 small files, a full compile took about 1.1 seconds. With one option turned on, compiling again after editing one file took between 0.2 and 0.25 seconds. Your own numbers will depend on the machine and the code, but the pattern is the subject of this lesson: a large share of the compile can often be avoided, once you know which part is slow.

Measuring Before Changing Anything

The compiler can report where its time goes. Run it with the --extendedDiagnostics flag and read the lines at the end of its output.
