Answering behavioral interview questions effectively

The previous lesson was about the work you do before the interview. This one is about the twenty minutes in the room, where a well-prepared story can still be delivered badly.

Answer the question that was asked

Take two seconds before you start, and decide which of your stories fits. That pause costs nothing, and it prevents the most common mistake. That mistake is starting a story and realizing halfway through that it does not answer the question.

If none of your stories fits well, say so and adapt rather than forcing one
