Initiative and leadership questions

Here are a few behavioral questions related to leadership and taking initiative:

Question 1: Tell me about a time when you took the initiative to improve a process or implement a new idea within your team.

Intention of the question: The interviewer wants to know whether you improve things nobody asked you to improve. They are also checking whether the change survived after you stopped pushing it.

Pitfalls to avoid: Avoid an idea that was assigned to you, because that is not initiative. Do not describe a change that was adopted and then quietly dropped
