The support assistant tells a customer, confidently and politely, that the return window is 60 days. The customer returns a product on day 45. The policy, updated last quarter, is 30 days. The dispute escalates, and the refund is granted as goodwill. The postmortem contains this lesson's founding sentence: the model was not malfunctioning; it was out of date.

The 60-day figure lives in the model's weights. Weights are the numbers inside the model that hold what it learned at training time: a snapshot of the world as of its training data
