Does Meta give interview feedback?
Meta (formerly Facebook) does not typically provide detailed interview feedback to candidates who are not selected, especially for those who are rejected early in the process. This is a common practice among many large tech companies due to legal and operational reasons. However, if a candidate makes it to the final stages of the interview process (e.g., after the onsite or virtual onsite rounds), they may receive general feedback from the recruiter, though it is often not very detailed.
What feedback you can expect:
- General outcome feedback: Candidates may be informed whether they performed well or poorly in certain areas (e.g., technical, behavioral, or system design), but recruiters rarely go into specifics.
- Encouragement to reapply: If a candidate was close to being selected but didn’t make the final cut, Meta may encourage them to reapply after 6-12 months, with high-level suggestions for improvement (e.g., working on technical skills or leadership qualities).
- No feedback for early stages: Candidates rejected in early rounds like the initial phone screen or coding round typically receive a generic rejection email without personalized feedback.
Exceptions and variations:
- In rare cases, some candidates report receiving high-level feedback from recruiters, especially if they were considered for a highly specialized or senior role.
- Mock interview feedback: Meta offers the opportunity to do mock interviews with current Meta engineers through their Career Profile portal, which could provide insights into areas of improvement, though this is separate from the official interview process.
