How Long Does It Take to Hear Back After a Grab Interview?
Grab says the whole process generally takes about one month, and candidates report one to three weeks between stages. Grab is the Southeast Asian superapp company headquartered in Singapore. Glassdoor reports an average of about 23 days from first contact to decision across all roles, and about 16 days for software engineer roles.
Some candidates report a complete process in about two weeks. Many others report long silence instead, especially after the final round.
The most common complaint is no reply at all. Several candidates report three weeks or more without an answer after a final interview, and one reports sending five or six follow-up emails and receiving nothing. Plan for a slow answer, and keep other applications active while you wait.
Timeline by Stage
| Stage | Typical wait | What is happening |
|---|---|---|
| After applying | One to three weeks, or no reply | Recruiters screen applications for one specific role |
| After the recruiter screen | A few days to one week | The recruiter confirms the rounds with the hiring team |
| After the online coding test | A few days to about two weeks reported | The score is reviewed and the live rounds are scheduled |
| After the coding round | About one week reported | The interviewer writes feedback and the next round is scheduled |
| After the system design round | About one week reported | Feedback is collected before the hiring manager round |
| After the final round | One to three weeks reported, sometimes no reply | Interviewers compare notes and the team compares candidates |
| Offer to decision | A few days | Pay, level, and start date are discussed |
Grab's careers site says it aims to give feedback a few days after each stage. The waits in the table are what candidates report, which is often longer.
Grab also says each stage usually lasts 30 minutes to one hour, and that some roles include a take-home exercise. A take-home exercise adds its own wait, because someone has to read it. Ask the recruiter for a date at the end of every round, and write that date down.
Does Grab Send Rejection Emails?
Candidates report mixed results, and some receive a short message from the recruiter. Many report nothing at all, including after four or five rounds.
Several candidates report that a recruiter answered quickly during the rounds and then stopped answering after the last one. A few report being contacted again months later about the same role, which is one candidate's report rather than a rule.
Grab states that it aims to give feedback after each stage, but candidates rarely report receiving written comments on their performance. Treat detailed feedback as unlikely, and ask the recruiter directly if you want it.
How to Follow Up
Send one short email to your recruiter, five business days after the date they gave you. If they gave no date, send it seven days after your last interview.
"Hi [Name], thank you for arranging my interviews last week. I enjoyed the discussion about [specific topic] with the team. Could you share an update on the timeline for a decision? I remain very interested in the role and can provide anything else you need."
If nothing arrives after another five business days, send one more message. After that, treat the silence as a rejection and give your time to other applications. Candidate reports here describe long silence more often than a clear answer, so that is the practical reading.
Can You Reapply, and How Soon?
Grab does not publish a reapply rule, and candidates do not report one. A few report being approached again about the same role after several months, which suggests that applications stay in the system.
For companies of this size, a wait of six to twelve months before applying to the same team is typical, not confirmed. Applying to a different team, or to a role in another market, is usually acceptable sooner. When you reapply, change something real: a new project, a new skill, or a closer match to the job description. Recruiters keep notes, and an identical second application rarely does better.
What to Wear
Grab says its interviews are hybrid, with many held virtually and some in person, so plan for video first. For a video interview, wear a plain collared shirt or a neat top in a solid color.
Sit in front of a plain background, with light on your face. Test your camera and microphone ten minutes before the call. For an onsite at a Grab office, wear the same neat, plain clothes. Technology companies in this region dress casually, so a suit is not needed, and that is typical rather than confirmed for Grab.
How to Prepare
- Know which wait you are in. Read the Grab interview process round by round for each stage, so you can tell a normal wait from real silence.
- Use the wait on the hardest round. What to expect in the Grab system design interview covers the matching and payments topics candidates report.
- Keep the motivation answer ready. The question returns in the hiring manager round, so review How to answer why Grab.
- Practice the values stories. Grokking Modern Behavioral Interview covers the ownership and failure questions that Grab's four values produce.
- Run other processes at the same time. Reports of long silence are common here, so another offer is your best protection.
