How Long Does It Take to Hear Back After a Kalshi Interview?

Candidates report a wide range, from a quick reply to weeks of silence. Glassdoor lists an average of about two weeks from application to hire for software engineers, from a small number of reports, although some candidates report interviews spaced weeks apart, with slow replies in between. Several candidates report silence after a take-home assignment or a technical assessment.

So plan for about two weeks in the good case, and longer if the team is busy. Follow up after one week of silence at any stage.

Timeline by Stage

StageTypical waitWhat is happening
ApplicationNot reported; days to weeks is typical for a small companyA recruiter or hiring manager reads the resume against the open role
Phone screenNot reported; one candidate reports no reply after the recruiter callThe recruiter checks fit and motivation, then books the technical interview
Technical phone interviewNot reportedThe interviewer writes feedback, and the team decides on a final round
Final interviewsCandidates report both fast decisions and gaps of weeksSeveral interviewers compare notes, and the manager weighs team need
OfferNot reportedLevel and compensation are set, then the offer is sent

Kalshi runs its hiring on Ashby, an applicant tracking system, so your application and any recruiter emails come through that system. Check your spam folder.

Does Kalshi Send Rejection Emails?

Reports here are mixed and often negative. Some candidates report a generic rejection email with no feedback, while others report no reply at all after a take-home assignment, a technical assessment, or a technical interview. Candidates also report missed scheduled interviews, and one reports a call that was forgotten and then forgotten again after rescheduling.

These reports come from several roles, not only engineering, and on Glassdoor, fewer than a third of candidates rate their overall experience as positive. So a silent outcome is a real possibility, not a personal signal. Feedback on why you were declined is rare. One Blind reply explains part of this: the team is small, so it hires for a specific need, and a strong candidate can still be declined for fit with that need.

How to Follow Up

Send one email to your recruiter or main contact after one week of silence following any interview, and keep it to three or four sentences.

"Hi [Name], thank you again for the [technical interview] on [date]. I enjoyed the discussion about [one specific topic, such as the order book question]. I wanted to check whether there is an update on next steps or a rough timeline for a decision. I remain very interested in the [role name] role at Kalshi."

If there is no reply after a second week, send one more short email. After that, stop writing and apply again later if a new role opens. Two emails in three weeks is polite. Five emails is not.

Can You Reapply, and How Soon?

Kalshi does not publish a reapplication rule, and candidates do not report one. For companies of this size, a wait of about six months before reapplying for the same role is typical, not confirmed, although a different role or a different team is often open sooner.

Kalshi hires for a specific need at a given moment, so a later opening may fit your background better than the first one did. When you reapply, say what changed: a new project, a new skill, or a new level of scope. Reread What is the Kalshi interview process like? before you do, because rounds can change between hiring cycles.

What to Wear

Most Kalshi interviews are on video, so wear a plain collared shirt or a clean sweater in a solid color. Sit in front of a tidy wall, with the light in front of you rather than behind you. Test your camera and microphone ten minutes early.

For an onsite in the office, business casual is enough, which means a collared shirt or blouse, plain pants, and clean shoes. Kalshi is a small company with an engineering culture, so a suit is not expected.

How to Prepare

  • Use the wait well. Practice the design topics in What to expect in the Kalshi system design interview in case a further round is added.
  • Keep the motivation story ready. The "Why Kalshi?" question can return in a manager conversation, and How to answer why Kalshi shows how to keep it consistent.
  • Prepare the behavioral evidence. Grokking Modern Behavioral Interview teaches answers built on proof, which is exactly what a small team's manager interview rewards.
  • Continue other applications. Given the reported silences, never pause other applications while you wait for Kalshi.
