How Long Does It Take to Hear Back After a Mercor Interview?

Mercor states its own wait time: about two to four weeks after the AI interview. That number is in Mercor's public talent documentation, and it names application volume as the reason.

Full time engineering candidates report something faster. Glassdoor reports an average process of about 14 days at Mercor, across 317 reported interviews.

Some engineering candidates report a decision within days of the final round. The two paths differ, so check which one you are in before you count days.

Timeline by Stage

Mercor runs two different processes. The first is the talent marketplace, where an AI interview is the only screening method. The second is the hiring loop for its own staff.

StageTypical waitWhat is happening
Application to AI interviewSame dayYou start it from your dashboard when ready
AI interview to resultTwo to four weeks, stated by MercorReview against the needs of open projects
Recruiter call to online testA few daysThe recruiter sends a timed test link
Online test to manager callAbout one weekYour test score is reviewed
Final round to decisionDays, by candidate reportInterviewers compare notes quickly

The AI interview itself runs about 20 minutes. Mercor says it is the standard and only method it uses to screen marketplace candidates. There is no human screen to wait for at that step.

Does Mercor Send Rejection Emails?

Mercor does not publish what it sends after a rejection. Its documentation gives the two to four week wait for a decision and says nothing about the message itself.

In practice, candidates report long gaps with no update at all. Some describe applications with no change of status for months.

No feedback is given, and you cannot review your own interview. Mercor states that it does not share interview recordings or transcripts. It says they are stored internally and used only for evaluation.

So there is nothing to request after a rejection. Your dashboard is the more reliable place to check. It shows each application and whether it is ready to submit or submitted.

How to Follow Up

For the marketplace, wait the full four weeks before you ask anything. For a staff role, wait five business days after each round, then send one short email.

Hi [name], thank you for the conversation on Tuesday. I enjoyed the section on matching and evaluation pipelines. Could you tell me the status of my application and the expected next step? I am glad to wait if the team needs more time.

Keep applying to other roles while you wait. Mercor itself tells candidates to do that.

Can You Reapply, and How Soon?

Mercor allows retakes, and it publishes the rule. You can retake the AI interview up to three times across all of your applications.

Only your most recent attempt is evaluated, so a retake replaces the earlier one. Support can grant one extra attempt if a technical fault ruined an earlier try, and you will need evidence.

Mercor states that completed steps are permanent and are carried over to new applications. That makes a second application much faster than the first. There is no published cooldown period for applying to a different role.

What to Wear

Every stage is on video, including the AI interview. Mercor recommends the latest version of Chrome and does not support mobile browsers.

A working camera is required, and your full face must stay visible throughout. Test the microphone, speakers, and screen sharing before you begin.

Wear a plain shirt in one solid color. Sit in a quiet room with light on your face, not behind you.

For a staff role interview, the same clothing works. No office visit is reported for the engineering loop, which candidates describe as virtual.
