How Long Does It Take to Hear Back After a Runway Interview?

Public reports about Runway wait times are scarce. The reports that do exist point to a short process. Candidates report about three weeks from application to decision.

Waits between stages are reported as a few days rather than weeks. Ask the recruiter to name the next step at the end of each stage. Write down any date you are given.

Runway here is the AI video generation company. Other companies share the name, so check which one a review is about.

Runway lists offices in New York, San Francisco, Seattle, London, Paris, Tel Aviv, and Tokyo. Team members also work remotely, and many roles are posted as remote.

Ask your recruiter which office your interviewers work from. A large time zone gap can add days to scheduling.

Timeline by Stage

StageTypical waitWhat is happening
After you applyA few days to about two weeksA recruiter reads the application and checks role fit
After the recruiter screenAbout 2 to 5 daysScheduling the next conversation
After the hiring manager chatA few daysSome candidates report this step before the coding screen
After the coding screenAbout 2 to 5 daysA pass to the onsite rounds, or an email that ends it
After the onsite roundsAbout one weekInterviewers compare notes, then the recruiter calls

The reported total is about three weeks. That is short for a full set of technical rounds. Prepare before you apply, because there is little study time once the rounds begin.

Does Runway Send Rejection Emails?

Runway does not publish a rejection policy. Public reports do not settle the question either.

Here is the pattern for companies of this size, typical and not confirmed. The recruiter sends a short standard email after a no. The email rarely carries written feedback on a technical round.

Two habits help. Ask the recruiter at the end of each stage when a decision is expected, and write the date down. If that date passes by more than a few days, send one short note.

How to Follow Up

Send the note about three business days after a round. The whole process is short, so a long silence is not normal here. Keep it to four sentences, and ask for a date rather than a verdict.

Hi [Name], thank you for the [round name] on [date]. I enjoyed the discussion about [one specific topic]. You mentioned the next step would be [step], and I wanted to ask whether there is an update on it. If the decision is still a few days away, could you tell me when to expect it?

Send one note. If a week passes with no reply, send one more. Then continue with your other applications.

Can You Reapply, and How Soon?

Runway does not publish a reapply rule. About six months is a sensible wait for a company of this size.

A second application is stronger when something real has changed. Build a project that uses video or image models, then publish it and write about what you learned. Research candidates report a paper discussion round, so a public write up helps there too.

A different role is often the faster second try. Runway posts product, platform, and research roles. A platform role and a research role need different proof.

What to Wear

The early rounds are video calls. Dress for a camera. A plain shirt in one solid color works well.

Avoid busy patterns and strong stripes. Sit with a plain wall behind you. Test your camera and microphone the day before.

If your onsite is in person, ask which office and which rounds. Clean, casual clothes are right for that visit, and no suit is needed.

Runway describes its work as building AI to simulate the world by merging art and science. What you say about that work counts for far more than your clothes.
