How Long Does It Take to Hear Back After a Workday Interview?

Workday does not publish a wait time, and public reports on its timing are scarce. So read the numbers below as typical for companies of this size, not confirmed. Workday's own careers page states that its process uses multiple phone and video or in-person rounds.

The loop has many parts. It starts with a recruiter screen, a hiring manager call, and a HackerRank coding test. Then come live technical rounds, a values panel, a VIBE interview, and an executive close.

VIBE is Workday's named inclusion conversation, and it is a separate round. A loop with that many parts usually needs four to six weeks from the first call to a decision. Between any two single stages, expect three to seven business days.

Timeline by Stage

StageTypical waitWhat is happening
Application to recruiter screenOne to three weeksRecruiters review applicants inside Workday's own job portal
Recruiter screen to next stepThree to five business daysThe recruiter writes notes and checks with the hiring manager
Hiring manager call to coding testTwo to five business daysThe team sends a HackerRank link with a deadline
Coding test to technical roundsThree to seven business daysScores are reviewed, then interviewers are booked
Technical rounds to values panelAbout one weekBooking several interviewers takes most of this time
Values panel and VIBE to decisionOne to two weeksScorecards are compared, then the offer needs approval

Does Workday Send Rejection Emails?

Yes, in most cases. Workday hires through its own job portal, so your application status changes there too. Candidates report a short template email for a rejection.

Some report only a status change with no email at all. Round level feedback is rare. The behavioral panel is scored against six published values, and those scorecards are internal.

Workday also states that all email from its team comes only from an @workday.com address. Treat any other address as a scam.

How to Follow Up

Send one short email to your recruiter. Wait until the date they gave you has passed, or ten business days after the round. Use the subject line "Following up on the [role] interview".

Hi [name], thank you again for the [round] on [date]. I enjoyed the question about [one real detail], and I am still very interested in the role. Could you share an update on the decision and when the next step would happen? I am happy to send anything else that helps.

One email is enough. Send a second only after another two weeks.

Can You Reapply, and How Soon?

Workday does not publish a waiting period. Many candidates wait about six months, but no stated policy requires that. A shorter wait makes sense only when something real changed.

A new role, a new language, or a shipped project all count. Workday runs named hiring programs for returners and career transitioners, for veterans, and for federal talent. If one of those fits you, apply through it.

For internships, Workday asks candidates to apply to one role rather than several. It states that several applications could mean progressing in one area and missing another you preferred.

What to Wear

Most Workday rounds are on video. The company's careers page lists phone, video, and in-person rounds together. Business casual is right for video.

Wear a plain shirt or blouse without a strong pattern. Put the light in front of you, not behind you. Test your camera and microphone the day before.

For an office visit, wear the same clothes with better shoes. Workday sells software to HR and finance teams, so business dress is safer than startup casual.

No one is scored on clothing. Clean and plain is enough.
