How Long Does It Take to Hear Back After an Amazon Interview?

Amazon states its own target wait times. After a phone interview, Amazon says its goal is an update within two business days. After the interview loop, the stated goal is five business days.

Amazon also says the whole process takes three to six weeks on average. If you reach those limits with no news, Amazon tells you to contact your recruiter.

Timeline by Stage

Amazon runs phone interviews on Amazon Chime or Zoom. For some roles it also offers a prep call before the loop.

Some candidates complete a non-disclosure agreement first. That is a promise not to share what you see.

Does Amazon Send Rejection Emails?

At the application stage, often not. Amazon states that it cannot personally contact every person it does not move forward with. So silence after an application is normal here.

That is the written policy, not an accident.

After an interview, you should get an answer. The two stated goals above cover both outcomes. Your recruiter is the person who gives it.

You can also check the result yourself. Amazon keeps a dashboard under "Your job application" on its jobs site. Amazon says that dashboard updates almost in real time.

An application stays active until a final decision is made. It is archived once you are no longer under consideration.

Feedback is not promised. Amazon does not offer round by round feedback on its careers pages. Expect the decision without a score for each interview.

One detail confuses people. Amazon may send a survey after the phone interview and after the loop. The survey asks about your experience.

It is not a signal about the outcome.

How to Follow Up

Wait until Amazon's own target has passed. That means three business days after a phone interview. It means six business days after the loop.

Then allow two more business days for the reply.

Hi [name], thank you for the time on Tuesday. I enjoyed the design question about order tracking. Could you share the status of my loop and the next step? I am happy to send anything else you need.

Send it once. If nothing comes back after another week, send one more note. Check your junk folder first, because Amazon warns that its messages are sometimes filtered there.

Can You Reapply, and How Soon?

Amazon does not publish a waiting period. It does publish two useful rules. You can apply and interview for up to 10 roles at a time.

If you passed the interviews but the role closed, Amazon keeps your resume on file. It then asks you to apply to similar open roles.

What to Wear

Most interviews are on video. Amazon runs them on Amazon Chime or Zoom. Its own advice is a quiet, well lit room and a tested camera.

Wear a plain shirt in one solid color. Skip thin stripes, because cameras render them badly.

Charge your laptop fully. Amazon tells candidates to dial in on the toll-free number in the invitation if the video will not connect.

For an office visit, the same clothes work. Bring photo identification for the front desk. Arrive about ten minutes early.
