What are the 3 P's of interviewing?

The 3 P's of interviewing are Preparation, Practice, and Presentation. These principles help candidates approach interviews with confidence and clarity.

1. Preparation

  • Research: Learn about the company, its mission, values, and the role you're applying for. Understand what skills are required and how your experience aligns with the position.
  • Know Your Resume: Be ready to discuss your past experiences, accomplishments, and how they make you the right fit for the role.
  • Anticipate Questions: Prepare answers for common interview questions, especially behavioral ones, using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result).

2. Practice

  • Mock Interviews: Practice your answers out loud, ideally in a simulated interview setting. This helps improve your communication skills and allows you to fine-tune your responses.
  • Refine Your Delivery: Practice how you convey your thoughts clearly and concisely. Ensure you’re answering questions in a structured way.
  • Non-Verbal Practice: Body language matters. Practice maintaining good eye contact, sitting up straight, and offering a firm handshake if in person.

3. Presentation

  • Appearance: Dress appropriately for the interview. Your attire should align with the company culture (e.g., formal for corporate, business casual for tech startups).
  • Confidence and Enthusiasm: Present yourself confidently, show enthusiasm for the role, and be engaged throughout the interview.
  • Effective Communication: Listen carefully, speak clearly, and ensure that your answers are relevant to the questions asked.

By focusing on these 3 P's, you'll approach the interview with a clear strategy, improving your chances of success.
