What Is the Capgemini Assessment Test Pattern?

The reported pattern has four assessment sections plus a separate coding round. Capgemini hires freshers in India through a program named Exceller. Candidates report a technical section, an English communication test of about 30 questions, a game based cognitive test of four games, and a behavioral questionnaire. A coding round of two problems in about 45 minutes follows for candidates who qualify for the higher role tracks.

Reported platforms are CoCubes and the Superset campus platform, and the platform varies by drive. Sections and timings are revised between hiring cycles, so confirm the current pattern in the official notification for your own drive.

The Technical Section

This is the section candidates fail most often. Reports describe pseudocode questions where you predict the output of a short program. The reported size differs by drive: 25 questions in 25 minutes in some campus accounts, and about 40 questions in 40 to 50 minutes in others.

Other reported topics are arrays and strings, hashing, sorting, complexity, OOP, DBMS and SQL, operating systems, computer networks, and cloud basics. Some drives also report questions drawn from the candidate's own engineering branch. Reports describe no negative marking, so answer every question. Recent preparation guides also describe a debugging stage and an AI assisted coding stage in some drives, which is one more reason to read your own notification.

The English Communication Section

This section tests written and spoken English separately. Reported written tasks are grammar questions, vocabulary, sentence correction, and reading comprehension. Reported spoken tasks include reading a sentence aloud, listening and repeating, and speaking on a given topic. One account describes a spoken response of about 45 seconds.

The Written Paragraph

Several accounts describe a short essay or paragraph on a general subject, such as investment in renewable energy. One report gives the length as about 200 words, and preparation guides describe a target of 200 to 300 words. Graders check grammar, sentence structure, and vocabulary, not the position you take. Write a clear opening sentence, two or three supporting points, and one closing sentence.

The Game Based Cognitive Test

Candidates report four short interactive games rather than written questions. The games measure attention, working memory, and reasoning speed. There is nothing subject specific to revise here. Practice one or two sample games so the format itself does not surprise you.

The Behavioral Questionnaire

Reports describe a long list of short statements about how you prefer to work, with no time limit. Answer consistently, because contradictory answers are visible in this format. There is no correct personality to perform, so respond as you actually work.

The Coding Round

Reports describe two problems in about 45 minutes, in C, C++, or Java. Several accounts state that Python was not permitted. Reported topics are arrays, strings, and basic graph problems. Not every candidate reaches this round, because eligibility depends on the earlier sections and on the role track the drive offers.

Eligibility

Drive notifications commonly state a minimum of 60 percent, or 6.0 CGPA, in class ten, class twelve, and graduation. Eligible degrees are commonly listed as BE, BTech, ME, MTech, and MCA from a recognized institution. Notifications also commonly cap the total academic gap near two years.

Backlog rules vary between drives. Most notifications require no active backlog during the process, and some permit one that must be cleared within a stated window. These are the company's own published rules where a notification states them, and every drive publishes its own.

How the Test Is Scored and What Happens Next

Reports describe the stages as elimination gates. The technical section is named as an elimination round in several accounts, and candidates who fail it do not continue. Coding performance decides the role track.

Candidates name three tracks, A4, A4(P), and A5. Reports say that candidates who do not clear the coding round are offered A4, that one complete solution corresponds to A4(P), and that two complete solutions correspond to A5. Candidates who clear every gate reach the interview, which is described in the Capgemini interview process. For the general shape of screens like this, read What is an online technical assessment?.

How to Prepare

  • Trace pseudocode by hand. Write the value of each variable on paper for short programs until output questions become fast.
  • Practice the coding patterns. Grokking the Coding Interview covers the array, string, and graph problems the coding round uses.
  • Revise SQL and OOP. Joins, keys, inheritance, and polymorphism appear in the technical section and again in the interview.
  • Time one full mock test. The technical section is short, so practice answering every question within the reported window.
  • Prepare the motivation answer early. The interview that follows the test ends with HR questions, and How to answer why Capgemini gives the structure.
  • Prepare the interview in parallel. Read the Capgemini interview process and How long it takes to hear back.
