What Is the Infosys Online Test Pattern?
The most widely reported Infosys online assessment has five sections and runs for about 100 minutes. The reported sections are technical or quantitative ability, logical reasoning, verbal ability, pseudocode, and puzzle solving, for roughly 54 questions in total. Some reports describe a longer version of about 120 minutes that adds English grammar and a short writing task, for a total of seven sections.
There is no negative marking in the reported patterns, and every report describes a separate cutoff for each section. These patterns are revised between hiring cycles, so treat the numbers below as the reported pattern and confirm the current one in the official notification for your drive.
Quick Overview
| Section | Questions and time | What it tests |
|---|---|---|
| Technical or quantitative ability | About 10 questions, about 35 minutes | Arithmetic, number theory, applied mathematics |
| Logical reasoning | About 15 questions, about 25 minutes | Series, arrangements, data interpretation |
| Verbal ability | About 20 questions, about 20 minutes | Reading comprehension, grammar, sentence correction |
| Pseudocode | About 5 questions, about 10 minutes | Reading code logic and predicting output |
| Puzzle solving | About 4 questions, about 10 minutes | Constraint puzzles and lateral reasoning |
| English grammar and writing | Reported only in the longer version | Grammar accuracy and a short written answer |
Technical or Quantitative Ability
This section allows the longest time per question, which tells you the questions are multi step rather than quick. Reported topics include percentages, ratios, time and work, speed and distance, permutations, probability, and number system questions. Accuracy matters more than speed here, because the question count is small and each correct answer counts for a large share of the section.
Logical Reasoning
The reasoning section is the largest in several reported patterns and has the shortest time per question. Reported topics include number and letter series, seating arrangements, blood relations, syllogisms, and data interpretation from tables and charts. Practice the arrangement questions first, since they consume the most time when you are unprepared.
Verbal Ability
Verbal ability has the most questions and the least time per question in the reported pattern. Expect reading comprehension passages, sentence correction, error spotting, fill in the blanks, and paragraph ordering. Read the questions before the passage, because that habit saves real minutes in a twenty minute section.
Pseudocode
The pseudocode section tests whether you can read program logic, not whether you can write code correctly. Reported questions show a short algorithm and ask for its output, its complexity, or the missing line. Linear search, binary search, loops, conditional statements, and array manipulation appear most often in candidate reports. Trace the code on paper with a small input, because mental tracing produces errors.
Puzzle Solving
The puzzle section is short but decides results, because one wrong answer is a large share of the section score. Reported puzzles involve weighing problems, crossing problems, arrangement grids, and simple logical deduction. Work these on a written grid, not in your head.
English Grammar and Writing
These two sections appear only in the longer reported version. The grammar part asks about tenses, articles, prepositions, and sentence correction. The writing part gives one topic and asks for a short written answer. Plan for two minutes, then write short, correct sentences.
The Separate Coding Test for Coding Roles
Specialist Programmer and Digital Specialist Engineer candidates report a different assessment entirely. It is a coding test of about 180 minutes with three problems that increase in difficulty. Reported topics include array manipulation with two pointers, dynamic programming, graph traversal, and modular arithmetic. Candidates describe partial scoring, so incomplete progress on the hardest problem still raises your rank.
Infosys also runs HackWithInfy, a separate coding contest whose top performers are reported to receive a pre-placement interview for a specialist engineering role. InfyTQ is a separate certification program for engineering students, reported as a route into the System Engineer role. These are distinct programs, not stages of one process.
Eligibility
Infosys publishes eligibility rules with each drive, and the reported criteria for recent drives are consistent. Candidates report a requirement of about sixty percent or an equivalent grade point average across class ten, class twelve and graduation. Reports also describe a rule against active backlogs at the time of applying, and a maximum education gap of two years. Full time engineering, computer applications, and science degrees are the reported qualifying programs.
These figures come from drive notifications quoted by candidates and preparation sites. Read the official notification for your own drive rather than any summary.
How the Test Is Scored and What Happens Next
Each section is an elimination gate in every reported version of the pattern, which means a score below the cutoff in one section ends the attempt regardless of your total. Sections are timed separately, so time saved in one section does not transfer to the next. Answer every question before the section timer ends, because there is no negative marking.
The test is remote proctored, and candidates report plagiarism checks on the coding version. Those who clear the assessment are called for a technical interview and an HR conversation, described in the Infosys interview process.
How to Prepare
- Practice under a section timer. The separate timers are where prepared candidates lose marks, so rehearse each section at its real length.
- Make pseudocode a daily habit. Ten traced problems a day for two weeks changes this section completely.
- Build the coding foundation. Grokking the Coding Interview teaches the patterns behind the array, dynamic programming, and graph problems in the coding test.
- Understand the assessment format. What an online technical assessment is explains proctoring and timing rules that apply here.
- Prepare the interview in parallel. The interview follows the test quickly, so read how to answer why Infosys and how long the decision takes before your test date.
