How Long Does It Take to Hear Back After an iFood Interview?
Candidates report about two weeks from first contact to a decision at iFood, and individual reports range from one week to about two months. iFood does not publish reply times, and most candidate reports give the total rather than the wait after each round. Two reported details still help you plan.
Some candidates report that the recruiter gave feedback at the end of the screening call itself. Several report the opposite at the end of the process, with no reply at all after the last interview, including no answer to follow up emails. So plan for two to four weeks in total, ask for the expected date at every stage, and treat silence as common rather than personal.
Timeline by Stage
The waits below are marked for what candidates actually report and what is only typical.
| Stage | Typical wait | What is happening |
|---|---|---|
| Recruiter contact to screen | Days to a few weeks, typical, not confirmed | Screening; many candidates report the first contact came on LinkedIn |
| After the recruiter screen | A few days, typical, not confirmed | The recruiter writes up notes and checks the team's interest |
| After the coding challenge | About one week, typical, not confirmed | An engineer reviews your code |
| After the technical and design rounds | One to two weeks, typical, not confirmed | Interviewers compare notes with the hiring manager |
| After the final conversation | One to three weeks, typical; silence is reported | The decision and the internal offer approval |
| Whole process | About two weeks on average, reported | Reports range from one week to about two months |
Does iFood Send Rejection Emails?
Candidate reports differ sharply. Some candidates praise the process as clear and humane, and they report a recruiter who explained plainly why they were not moving forward and which areas to develop. Other candidates report the opposite experience. Those reports describe slow feedback, criteria that were never explained, and no reply after the final round, even to repeated messages.
A rejection email is more likely in the early stages, where a recruiter owns the conversation directly. After the last round, silence is reported often enough that you should not wait for closure before continuing your search.
How to Follow Up
Send one short message to your recruiter if the date they promised has passed, or about one week after your last round. Keep it plain and easy to answer.
"Hello [name]. Thank you again for the conversation about the [role] position on [date]. I am still very interested, and I wanted to ask whether there is an update or a next step on your side. Please let me know if you need anything else from me."
Send that once. If nothing arrives after another week, send one more short note, and then stop. Two messages show interest, and more than that rarely changes a decision.
Can You Reapply, and How Soon?
iFood does not publish a waiting period, and candidate reports do not describe one either. For companies of this size, about six months before reapplying to the same team is typical, not confirmed. Applying sooner to a different team is usually fine, because each team runs its own loop.
Two rules help in either case. Fix the reason you were rejected first, whether that was the coding challenge or the design round. Then apply again with a new result you can show, rather than the same resume.
What to Wear
Most iFood rounds are video calls, so your setup matters more than your clothing. A plain shirt in a solid color is enough. Test your camera, microphone, and light before the call, and sit somewhere quiet with a simple background.
For an in person final round, business casual is the safe choice. iFood has run final in person interviews at its headquarters in Osasco for at least one published program, and it paid the travel for candidates living elsewhere. Its offices are described as informal, so a jacket and tie are not expected.
How to Prepare
- Know the loop before the waiting starts. Read What is the iFood interview process like? so you know how many waits to expect.
- Ask for the timeline in round one. Ask the recruiter for the next step and the expected date, then follow up against that date.
- Keep other processes running. Reported waits reach several weeks, so never pause your search for one company.
- Use the wait to prepare the design round. What to expect in the iFood system design interview lists the topics to rehearse.
- Fix the motivation answer too. How to answer why iFood and Grokking Modern Behavioral Interview cover the question that every round repeats.
