What Is the Revolut Interview Process Like? (Round by Round)

The Revolut interview process for engineers has four to five stages, depending on the role. Expect an application review, an online assessment, a recruiter screen, technical rounds, and a final values interview. The technical part mixes live coding with a take-home project and an architecture review. Candidates report that live coding lasts about 45 to 60 minutes. The take-home project usually needs about four to eight hours of work. Plan for several weeks from application to decision.

Quick Overview

StageFormatWhat is evaluated
1. Online assessmentTimed online testData structures, algorithms, SQL, sometimes logic puzzles
2. Recruiter screenShort callBackground, motivation, role fit
3. Live coding45 to 60 minutes, your own IDEWorking, tested code on practical problems
4. Take-home and reviewAbout 4 to 8 hours, then a review callArchitecture, code quality, trade-offs
5. Hiring manager and final roundConversations with manager and a bar raiserValues, judgment, culture fit

Online Assessment

The first filter is a timed test. Candidates report questions on data structures, algorithms, and SQL. Some versions add logic or math puzzles. The test rewards speed plus accuracy, so practice timed problems before you start. Do not skip SQL practice. Many engineers fail here because they only rehearsed algorithms.

Recruiter Screen

A recruiter checks your background, your motivation, and the role match. Prepare a two-minute summary of your work. Also prepare a short answer to the motivation question. How to answer "Why do you want to work at Revolut?" explains what they want to hear.

Live Coding

This round runs about 45 to 60 minutes, often in your own IDE. The problems are practical rather than puzzle-style, and many have a fintech flavor. Think of parsing transactions, applying exchange rules, or building a small service endpoint. Interviewers expect working code with unit tests, not pseudocode. Candidates report attention to testing discipline, concurrency, and database use. Concurrency means several operations running at the same time, which matters for money software.

Two habits help here. First, write a test before you write the function, because interviewers notice the order. Second, say your plan out loud before typing. A silent candidate is hard to score.

Take-Home Project and Architecture Review

Many candidates receive a take-home project of about four to eight hours. A reported example is building a small currency exchange API. A review call of about 45 to 60 minutes follows. A senior engineer asks why you chose your design, how it would handle ten times the load, and where it fails. Treat the review as a design discussion, not a defense. Saying what you would improve scores better than pretending the project is perfect.

Hiring Manager and Final Round

The hiring manager interview checks how you would work inside the team. Expect questions about your past projects, your role in them, and how you handle deadlines. The final round often includes a bar raiser. A bar raiser is a senior interviewer from outside the team who checks quality and values. Revolut publishes five values: Never Settle, Dream Team, Think Deeper, Get It Done, and Deliver WOW. Prepare one story for each. Top Revolut behavioral interview questions lists what to practice.

One warning about the culture questions. Revolut describes its own pace as intense, and interviewers test whether you know that. An answer that asks for a calm, slow environment will read as a mismatch. Be honest with yourself about this before you apply.

How to Prepare

  • Practice writing tests first. Revolut rewards production-style code. Grokking the Coding Interview teaches the patterns behind the timed problems.
  • Practice explaining architecture. The take-home review is a design conversation. What to expect in the Revolut system design interview describes the topics, and Grokking the System Design Interview teaches the method.
  • Prepare value stories early. Behavioral signals are collected in every round, not only the last one.
  • Protect time for the take-home. Four to eight hours of focused work needs a real block in your calendar. Rushed submissions show.
