How Long Does It Take to Hear Back After a Scale AI Interview?

Candidates report about five to seven business days after the final loop, and three to six weeks end to end. After the coding test, many report a gap of two to three weeks before the first live round. After the final loop, offers are reported one to two weeks later.

Silence is the most common complaint. Scale AI runs a hiring committee review after the loop, and that step adds days. Plan for a slow answer and keep other applications active.

Timeline by Stage

StageTypical waitWhat is happening
After applyingOne to three weeks, or no replyCold applicants often receive the coding test before any recruiter call
After the recruiter callA few days to one weekThe recruiter confirms the role and level, then sends the coding test
After the coding testTwo to three weeks reportedBooking the first live round is the slowest step candidates report
After the technical screenAbout one weekThe interviewer writes feedback; the recruiter books the loop
After the virtual loopFive to seven business days reportedInterviewers file notes, then a hiring committee reviews the case
Committee to offerA few days to one weekLevel and the written offer are settled

The coding test is a one hour exercise on HackerRank, a coding test website. Candidates report one or two medium to hard problems. A card game simulation is the most reported example.

One candidate reports good feedback one week after the loop, then a rejection once the committee met. The committee step is why a strong loop can still end slowly.

Does Scale AI Send Rejection Emails?

Reports are mixed. Some candidates receive a short email from the recruiter. Others report no reply at all.

One candidate reports close to a month of silence after the final loop. That person followed up three times and still received nothing. Another reports a recruiter who promised an answer by a date, then did not write for two weeks.

People on Blind report that clear rejections arrive faster than close decisions. A long wait is therefore not a bad sign on its own.

Do not expect written feedback on your performance. The candidate whose case reached the hiring committee reports a rejection with no reasons given.

On Glassdoor, only about a quarter of Scale AI candidates rate the interview experience as positive. Slow replies are a common reason in those reviews.

How to Follow Up

Send one short email to your recruiter. Send it five business days after the date they promised. If they gave no date, send it seven days after your last round.

"Hi [Name], thank you again for arranging my interviews last week. I enjoyed the debugging round and the conversation about [specific topic]. Could you share an update on the timeline for a decision? I am still very interested in the role and can send anything else you need."

If there is no reply after another five business days, write once more. After that, treat the silence as a rejection and give your time to other applications.

Can You Reapply, and How Soon?

Scale AI does not publish a reapply rule, and candidate reports conflict. Some report a three month wait for the same role. Others report being told to wait a year.

A different role or a different team is usually open sooner. For companies of this size, six to twelve months before the same role is typical, not confirmed.

When you reapply, change something real. A new project, a new language, or a closer match to the job description all help. Recruiters keep notes, and a repeat application with nothing new rarely does better.

What to Wear

Scale AI runs its full loop on video. Candidates report three to four rounds in one virtual day. For video, wear a plain collared shirt or a neat top in a solid color.

Sit with a plain background and light on your face. Test your camera and microphone ten minutes early. A long virtual day also needs water and a quiet room.

For an onsite, wear the same neat, plain clothes. AI companies of this type dress casually, so a suit is not needed.
