How Long Does It Take to Hear Back After an Airwallex Interview?
Candidates report three to five weeks from application to decision, and some report six weeks. Reported averages on Glassdoor differ by role and by country, from about two weeks to about three and a half weeks. After the last round, reported waits range from a few days to about two weeks. One senior engineer reported a rejection four days after the system design round, and another candidate reported a rejection about two weeks after the final interview.
Airwallex does not publish a wait time per stage, so for a company of this size a few days to a week between stages is typical, not confirmed. Candidates report quick scheduling from recruiters early on, and slower answers after the later rounds. Ask for a date at the end of every call, and write it down.
Timeline by Stage
| Stage | Typical wait | What is happening |
|---|---|---|
| Application | A few days to two weeks (typical, not confirmed) | Recruiters screen applications against open roles |
| After the recruiter screen | A few days (candidates report quick scheduling) | The recruiter confirms fit and books the technical round |
| After the coding round | A few days to a week (typical, not confirmed) | The interviewer writes feedback and the next round is booked |
| After the system design round | A few days to about a week (one report: four days) | Feedback is written and the loop so far is reviewed |
| After the final round | A few days to about two weeks (reported) | Interviewers compare notes and the hiring manager decides |
| End to end | Three to five weeks, up to six (reported) | Application to decision |

Does Airwallex Send Rejection Emails?
Candidates do report rejection emails, usually with a general reason and no detail. One candidate reported wording about a highly competitive group of applicants, and several report asking for feedback and receiving no reply at all.
Some reports describe problems worse than a late decision. A few candidates describe interviews cancelled at short notice, including one cancelled after the candidate had already joined the video call. One candidate describes reaching the last stage of a five-step process and then being told that the role was put on hold. Reported satisfaction on Glassdoor is low: about 17 percent of reviewers describe a positive interview experience for software engineer roles, against about 30 percent across all roles.
So plan for a short email and no explanation. If you want feedback, ask the recruiter one direct question: which round decided the result. One sentence in reply is still useful for your next loop.
How to Follow Up
Send one email to the recruiter after the promised date passes, and if you were given no date, wait five working days after the interview. Keep it short.
"Hi [Name], thank you for arranging my [system design interview] on [day]. I enjoyed the discussion about [one specific topic]. Could you share the expected timeline for the next step? I am happy to send anything else that would help."
Send one message, and if there is no reply after another week, send one more. After that, treat the role as closed and keep applying elsewhere. Do not contact individual interviewers directly.
Can You Reapply, and How Soon?
Airwallex does not publish a reapply rule, and candidates do not report one. For companies of this size, waiting three to six months is typical, not confirmed. An automated rejection before any call is a different case, and if the role is reposted and you have rewritten your resume, you can apply again sooner.
Change something visible before you reapply. Build and release a project that moves real data, learn the payments domain properly, or practice the round that decided the last result. Name that change in one line of the new application.
What to Wear
Most Airwallex interviews are on video, including the recruiter screen and the technical rounds. Wear a plain, clean shirt with no logos or busy patterns. Check the camera before the call: a light in front of you, a plain background, and no window behind you. Test the microphone and screen sharing too, because you may write code in your own editor.
Some candidates report meeting several team members in person at a later stage. For an office visit, wear clean clothes at the level of a normal working day, such as a collared shirt or a plain top with trousers. No suit is needed for an engineering loop. For a non-engineering role at a financial company, formal clothing is the safer choice.
How to Prepare
- Use the wait. Rehearse the motivation question with how to answer why Airwallex while the next stage is being scheduled.
- Prepare the design round early. The topics are listed in what to expect in the Airwallex system design interview, so start before the round is booked.
- Keep a log. Write the date, the stage, and the promised reply date after every call, because that record tells you when to follow up.
- Improve the stories. Grokking Modern Behavioral Interview helps you build evidence-based answers for the deep dive and the bar raiser.
- Keep coding. Grokking the Coding Interview keeps your practice current while you wait.
