How Long Does It Take to Hear Back After a Jump Trading Interview?

Candidates report one to three weeks after the online assessment and one to two weeks after the final day. One candidate reports feedback three days after the first technical call. The same person reports a virtual final day nine days later, and about one month from first recruiter contact to offer.

Most reports put the full process at three to four weeks once it starts. Candidates who arrive through an outside headhunter report much longer waits.

Timeline by Stage

StageTypical waitWhat is happening
After applyingOne to three weeks, or no replyResumes are screened; many candidates receive the online assessment first
After the online assessmentOne to three weeks reportedThe test is scored; few candidates are reported to pass it
After a technical phone screenThree days to one week reportedThe engineer or trader who interviewed you writes feedback
Between screen and final dayAbout nine days reportedThe recruiter books five to seven back-to-back interviews
After the final dayOne to two weeks reportedEvery interviewer files notes, then the firm decides
Offer to team matchA few daysYou speak with several teams before choosing one

The online assessment runs 90 to 120 minutes with two or three hard problems. Some candidates report a longer version, about 180 minutes for three problems.

The last stage at Jump Trading is unusual. After an offer, candidates report a few days of conversations with several teams. Pay is reported to be the same across teams, so the choice is mostly yours.

One candidate reports about nine hours of technical interviews across the whole process.

Does Jump Trading Send Rejection Emails?

Candidates report short rejection emails at the assessment and phone screen stages. These are usually one or two lines with no reasons.

After the final day, reports are mixed. Some candidates receive a call from the recruiter. Others report several weeks of silence and no formal answer.

Do not expect written feedback. Trading firms rarely explain a decision, and Jump Trading candidates do not report receiving reasons. If you want any comment on your performance, ask the recruiter during a call rather than by email afterwards.

How to Follow Up

Write one short email to your recruiter. Send it five business days after the date they gave you. If they gave no date, send it one week after the final day.

"Hi [Name], thank you for arranging the interviews in [city] last week. I enjoyed the low latency discussion with the team. Could you share an update on the timeline for a decision? I am still very interested and happy to send anything else you need."

If there is no reply after another week, send one more note. Offers are reported within two weeks of the final day. After a month of silence, treat the answer as a rejection.

Can You Reapply, and How Soon?

Jump Trading does not publish a reapply rule on its careers pages. Guides for the firm report a twelve month wait after a rejection. Repeat candidates are reported to be taken seriously when they can show a specific improvement.

Failing the online assessment is the easiest result to fix. Practice hard graph and dynamic programming problems. Dynamic programming means solving a problem by saving the answers to its smaller parts.

A new job at a higher level also strengthens a second application. Apply again with something real that changed.

What to Wear

Jump Trading runs the early screens by phone or video. The final day is often in person, in Chicago, New York, or London. A virtual final day is also reported.

For video, wear a plain collared shirt or a neat top in one color. Use a plain background and good light. Test the camera and microphone ten minutes early.

For the in person day, wear neat clothes that are a little smarter than everyday casual. A collared shirt and plain trousers are enough.

Trading firms of this type are not formal offices, so a suit is not needed. That is typical, not confirmed by Jump Trading.

Candidates report five to seven interviews back to back on that day, so wear comfortable shoes.
